Taking police patrol to the pavement seems ideal, but with short staffing at both Sandusky and Perkins police departments, fewer officers are taking it to the streets.

"Right now it's just not very practical for us given our staffing," said Kim Nuesse, Sandusky police chief. "We don't have the down time."
