A Columbus man drowned north of the Camp Perry firing range Saturday afternoon.
Chief Deputy Randy Riedmaier of the Ottawa County Sheriff's office said the man went in the water near Camp Perry to check on the boat's propeller and did not come back up.
The sheriff's office responded with its marine patrol and the Ottawa County Dive team, which recovered the body within 20 minutes of the 4:40 p.m. call.
According to U.S. Coast Guard Station Marblehead, three adults were on the boat.
The water where the drowning occurred is about 22 feet deep, a Coast Guard official said.
The Sandusky office of the Ohio Division of Watercraft is handling the investigation. Calls to that office were not returned late Saturday.
