NORTH-CENTRAL OHIO

A heavily traveled bridge on U.S. 250 bears striking structural similarity to the Minneapolis bridge that collapsed Wednesday into the rushing waters of the Mississippi River.

According to data from the Ohio Department of Transportation, nearly 2.4 million vehicles each year drive across the bridge, which spans a small stream south of Milan and north of Norwalk.

The U.S. 250 bridge has a concrete surface laid over a steel skeleton, similar to the Minneapolis bridge, said Huron Assistant County Engineer Carl Essex.
