The joke of a credit card swiper in a church offering plate might be closer to reality than some people might think.
Churches nationwide are catching on to the ease of paying with plastic.
"We're seeing that everyone else is doing it. I think it's a shift in how we use money and the church is simply responding to that," said Phill Martin, deputy CEO of the National Association of Church Business Administration.
He said churches are doing everything from allowing people to donate online to installing kiosks.
While the electronic methods are easy and convenient, using a credit card to give is causing some people to question the logic.
"There's a lot of debate in the church community and the issue of debt, about encouraging people to give by credit card which increases debt," Martin said.
