After watching the council meetings on channel 99 for several months, I'm surprised that the citizens of Port Clinton aren't screaming for answers and asking "Why?" I've yet to hear the mayor or any of his faithful followers come up with an acceptable answer to any of the questions concerning the Puller Group. One will answer a question with a question while others never seem to get to the point. But the one that really got me shaking my head was when different residents read to council (June 12) how the Puller Mortgage founded by Ken Puller defaulted tens of millions of dollars on loans borrowed from HUD and councilman John Folger's reply was, "We all make mistakes." What makes Mr. Folger think they won't make any "mistakes" if we let them develop Water Works Park?

The citizens of Port Clinton are entitled to and should insist on straight answers to any questions the council is asked. They were voted in to represent the people, not dictate to them what "they" personally want. Why would the city spend thousands of dollars investigating the two developers and then insist on the one with the negative reports? Give this some thought. I truly believe that the main reason for this development is to skyrocket property value and property taxes. Someone is sure to get a petition out to put the rezoning of the Water Works Park on the November ballot, and if the citizens of Port Clinton will just stop and think we still may be able to save our park, our waterfront and our city. If we don't act now, Mayor Brown's dream could be our nightmare.

P.S. Thank God for councilmen Glynn Chapman and Jeff Morgan.
