This letter is in reference to the June 14 article about the future of the old Sandusky Drive-in Theater.

I found that we citizens of Erie County are lucky enough to have yet another park at that site. Really lucky because it is almost within walking distance of Osborn park.

Lucky again because it doesn’t cost anything. That’s right, it’s grant money.

The schools are hurting financially, but the state has money to grant funds for all types of pet projects for many organizations throughout the state.

Where does all this free grant money come from?

Could it be from us, in the form of taxes?

The city and county take land for a park that could provide property taxes that the schools need locally.

Do you think the city or county sets aside money from their budget to cover this loss of revenue?

It makes an average citizen wonder who’s doing all the planning in government.
