The Sandusky Register failed the readers. They failed to print that as director of Safe Harbour, I also said that I felt very sad because the paper has re-victimized the victim and hurt the children in the process. This is a very emotional time for women and children and I feel they need to be protected at all costs.
The good news is that by printing this article, it tells the community that domestic violence can happen to anyone, at any time. This is so important to our families who are experiencing family violence. There are resources in the community and education to help understand the dynamics of family violence. It is unfortunate that the Sandusky Register does not understand that confidentiality is the most important factor when dealing with the safety of survivors of domestic violence.
