Perkins police arrested a New York man Tuesday afternoon for allegedly trying use stolen checks at two separate banks.

Jonathan King, 30, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., went to Fifth Third Bank desiring to open an account. A video camera caught him reaching over the counter and stealing starter checks, according to the police report. Police said he tried to open accounts with the checks at Fifth Third Bank and Home Savings Bank, leaving when clerks told him he could not withdraw money until the checks cleared.
