Executed killer Christopher Newton might have suffered the same fate as his victim -- suffocation.
At least that is how Dr. Jonathan Groner sees it. Groner, the trauma medical director at Columbus Children's Hospital and associate professor of surgery at Ohio State University Medical Center, has joined the American Civil Liberties Union in investigating the events surrounding the killer's May 24 execution.
"I think it is certainly fair to say that Mr. Newton suffocated while alive," said Groner.
Newton, 37, was executed for the beating and strangulation death of his former cellmate Jason Brewer.
