Erie County Children's Services took custody of a 4-year-old boy Tuesday evening after finding him wandering the 800 block of Vine St. wearing only a T-shirt.

His mother, Victoria Grant, 23, 1000 block of W. Monroe St., was charged with child endangerment by Sandusky police, who said they have responded to calls of her son wandering naked in the streets on "numerous" occasions.

This is the same 4-year-old boy Sandusky police found running naked May 21 along the 100 block of West Monroe St. During that incident, the mother told police that her son escaped through a window.

Police responded to the most recent incident at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Sandusky officers said several witnesses yelled at the child after seeing him almost walk out into the street. One family gave him some cookies and water to keep him from walking any further, according to reports. They told police the child had been wandering the streets for about 15 minutes.

Sandusky Sgt. Mel Burns said officers knew where to take the child once they found him.

"Our officers have responded several times for the same kind of complaint and knew who his mother was," Burns said.

Officers walked the boy back to his residence where they found the front door standing open and Grant asleep inside, according to the police report. She was arrested and Erie County Children's Services was called.
