LUCASVILLE

Chris Newton's final statement before he died at 11:53 a.m. today was: "Yes, um boy I could sure go for some beef stew and a chicken bone. That's it."

The statement was an inside joke for the other death row inmates, according to the warden.

Newton, formerly of Huron, was a convicted killer. He was scheduled to die at 10 a.m., but staff had a hard time finding a second vein for the lethal injection. Wire reports indicate his obesity may have played a role.

The media who witnessed the death were visibly shaken.
