SANDUSKY

A Sandusky man is being called a godsend after rescuing an elderly woman from a house fire early Tuesday morning.

John Hood, 32, was on his way to work when he noticed two boys, ages 3 and 4, standing outside their house on the 2200 block of Fallen Timber Drive. When they told him their grandmother was still inside,  Hood entered the smoke-filled house to rescue 61-year-old Ola Regains. She was unharmed.

Crews extinguished the blaze, which was confined to a bedroom in the residence, in about five minutes, according to Battalion Chief Ben Higgenbotham.
