HURON

Huron Police and Fire Departments responded to the single vehicle crash at approximately 11:30 pm. The white Ford Focus, traveling east on Cleveland Road, was driven across the westbound lane of traffic, over a curb and through four wood posts and guardrail before coming to rest on the Huron Ore Dock property. Parts of the car's engine and bumper were strewn over the sidewalk and Cleveland Road.

The driver's name was unavailable at the scene. He was treated at Firelands Regional Medical Center and released to Huron Police custody. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash as an open container was found in the vehicle according to Huron Police. The Ohio Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation of the crash.

The scene was cleared by 1 am Sunday morning.
