Sandusky is on its way to being worthy of a song.
Things'll be great when you're
No finer place for sure
Everything's waiting for you.
But if city officials aren't quite singing yet, they're at least ready to distribute a new downtown development flier.
"People don't really realize the progress until they see it," said John Lippus, downtown development manager.
And the flier with an aerial view of downtown and info boxes about specific projects show that progress.
Lippus got the idea for the flier from a flier he saw while on an island in Puget Sound, Wash.
"I think it will make a lot of people believe that we are moving in the right direction, he said.
Key players like Lippus and Economic Development Specialist Scott Schell say downtown redevelopment is growing from the foundation City Manager Mike Will laid.
Despite Will announcing his resignation May 11, the two are confident the structure is in place to help downtown thrive as a destination.
"His enthusiasm was infectious," Lippus said. "We all took his lead and ran with it. This document is an example of what can happen if we work as a team with the city's best interests in mind."
The flier breaks down the progress of public and private developments.
