Sandusky police plan to be vigilant about noise violations this summer, said Assistant Police Chief Charlie Sams.

The noise ordinance was adopted in 2003 to help downtown development, said Don Icsman, city law director.  The ordinance provides decibel limits for outdoor events like concerts, Icsman said, in addition to other venues.

The city has a few trained sound experts with the police department who are able to use a device to assess how many decibels --a measurement of how loud a sound is -- is coming from a vehicle, home or other place of origin.
