50 years ago, 1957: Sandusky was getting a new wholesale grocery in the form of Central Fruit and Grocery Co., Mansfield, which had begun operations on E. Boalt Street. Millard Robinette was the local manager and Robert A. Hartman was assistant manager.

25 years ago, 1982: More than 30,000 pills and capsules were confiscated by Drug Enforcement Administration officers when they searched a trailer on Kelleys Island.

10 years ago, 1997: The Vermilion Police Department and the Erie County Sheriff's office made three arrests for underage liquor sales after sending a 19-year-old confidential informant into 28 stores Friday afternoon. The informant, without any identification, was able to buy beer at only three stores out of the 28 visited, which were located in the city and in Vermilion and Florence Townships.
