PORT CLINTON

Port Clinton's planning commission has recommended a zoning change from a government district to a central business district for the 14-acre park area within Washington, Perry and East Jefferson streets.

The zoning change allows restaurants, shops and hotels to build within that area, also known as Water Works Park. A government district is mainly limited to parks. The council voted to have a public hearing during Tuesday's meeting. The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 12 to allow citizens to voice their concerns on the zoning change.

Port Clinton council members are exploring a marina district project that would benefit from these zoning changes.
