NORWALK

Fire late Sunday caused significant damage to a house in the 100 block of E. Main St., Norwalk, but no one was injured, firefighters said.

The fire began at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the home owned by Doug Berry, who firefighters said was downtown at the restaurant owned by his father, Bob, at the time.

Fire Chief Doug Coletta said the fire was under control by 1 a.m. today, though the house was extensively damaged. A neighbor told the Register he became aware of the fire when the power went out in his own home across the street.

No information was available early today as to the cause or the estimated dollar amount of damage. Coletta said at 1 a.m. firefighters were still working to douse hot spots in the fire.
