The power of prayer was prevalent Thursday night in downtown Sandusky.
More than 70 community members gathered to pray for youth, elected officials, law enforcement and others on the National Day of Prayer.
Pastor John Adams hosted the gathering and a variety of community leaders led prayers.
Dr. James Preston led a prayer for doctors, administration and volunteers.
"Grant us compassion, which gives us comfort even in the absence of healing," Preston said. "Grant us love, which can heal so much all on its own."
Preston is the father-in-law of Larry Robinson, who was injured in Iraq earlier this year.
