50 years ago, 1957: The Sandusky-Erie County Armed Forces Day committee held another meeting to further finalize plans for the Armed Forces week celebration. Wallace C. Glenwright, assistant superintendent of Sandusky schools and an officer in the Naval Reserve, was named marshal for the parade to take place May 18.

25 years ago, 1982: Members of the Sandusky Yacht Club revealed plans to develop a 6-story, 30-unit condominium complex on 4.3 acres of land off Water Street. The construction of the condominiums, which hinges on the Yacht Club being able to purchase about a 100-foot wide parcel of land from the city, was estimated to raise Sandusky’s tax base from $3-4 million, said Jay Wagner, a representative of the Yacht Club.

10 years ago, 1997: A $150,000, one-story, frame house in Holiday Lakes was destroyed by fire. Firefighters from the Willard Fire Department with mutual aid from the North Fairfield department responded to the call. The fire was under control in 45 minutes. No one was hurt.
