PERKINS TOWNSHIP

An afternoon car chase ended with three people transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Perkins police are still trying to confirm the identities of the male and female they were forced to chase and who were giving several different names to police.

The chase began at 4:50 p.m. after the two suspects tried to steal some clothes from JCPenney in the Sandusky Mall, but were confronted by store and mall security, leading to a fight.

The two suspects fled in a Scion XB heading west on Perkins Avenue.

They were chased through the streets of the township and Sandusky until they turned onto Ohio 4 heading south.

When they reached Ohio 2, they tried to turn onto the freeway heading east, but hit an oncoming car, a Honda Civic driven by an unidentified woman.

The collision caused their car to roll over and land on its roof.

They were rescued from the vehicle by Perkins firefighters and were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The woman they hit was also sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
