Gas prices took a jump Thursday and reports that refineries are cutting back on production are taking some of the blame.

Mickey Mart on West Washington Street in Sandusky raised its gas prices from $2.78 Wednesday to $2.99 Thursday.

Kristy Stacy, a cashier at the gas station, said she doesn't know when the prices will fall or drop until she receives a call from the station's home office.

According to the AAA Ohio Auto Club, this week's state average is $2.77 per gallon of unleaded regular gas. The nation's average is $2.86.
