Council approved the early retirement request for Captain Otis H. Bronner of the Fire and Rescue Department in a move expected to save the city close to $175,000.

"This will help change the organizational structure of the fire department by allowing us to bring in a new probationary employee while the city will enjoy the benefits of a reduced salary and benefits it has to pay out," City Manager Andy White said.

White said that during a five-year period, the city will save $215,000 gross and $175,000 savings will be realized after the retirement incentive money is expended.
