Erie County and Greater Erie Marketing Group Inc. officials will call on a local company today, the first of a planned series of visits designed to improve communication on business issues.

Today's visit to Birmingham Metal Products in eastern Erie County is part of the 10 conditions Erie County gave to GEM when it agreed to give GEM an additional $25,000 a year in funding, said Erie County Commissioner Bill Monaghan, a member of GEM's board of directors.

In addition to Monaghan, the delegation today will include County Administrator Mike Bixler, Steve Poggiali from the planning department and Mark Litten, the executive director of GEM. Other visits might include Alex MacNicol, the head of the planning department and the other commissioners, Monaghan said.
