I applaud the Register for its front page salute to women in Sunday's paper.

I wanted to add another outstanding female community leader to the list, Chief Charity Schafer of Berlin Heights. Charity is the first female police chief in our town's history, and is doing an incredible job. She is held in the highest esteem by the citizens of Berlin Heights.

Chief Schafer and her department do an outstanding job at keeping our village safe, and they also play an active role in our community. I have gotten to know the chief through different community events over the past few years and I couldn't ask for a better person to head up our police department. She is friendly, hard working, and focused on doing her job, and doing it extremely well.

I am very impressed with the chief and know she will continue doing a great job.
