Sandusky fire marshal Rudy Ruiz received two highly regarded fire distinctions Monday night at City Hall.

Ruiz recently became an executive fire officer. He studied for four years in a master’s level program in Maryland, which trained him to further his education and better prepare himself in the fire field. The second honor Ruiz made public was obtaining national accreditation as a fire officer recognized by the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

“The focus here in the fire department is professional development, and Rudy exemplifies those individuals in our organization that are pursuing professional development,” Sandusky fire Chief Paul Ricci said.
