Serving Our Seniors director Sue Daugherty is offering free dental care to 30 Erie County residents age 60 or older who haven’t been able to afford to go to the dentist.
Daugherty is looking for a total of 60 seniors to volunteer their help for a new study to examine the need for dental services among the county’s elderly population.
She wants 30 older adults who don’t have a dentist. At minimum, those volunteers will get a thorough examination and will get their teeth cleaned. Additional treatment may be available in some cases, although Daugherty said she can’t pay more than $500 per person.
For purposes of comparison, Daugherty also is asking for help from 30 volunteers who do have a dentist. She wants those volunteers to sign a release form allowing her agency to access information from their dental records.
Volunteers interested in signing up as part of either group may call 419-624-1856 or 800-564-1856.
