St. Mary CC takes down St. Wendelin

It was senior night at the "Den" and all four contributed points as the Panthers finished their regular season with a 70-59 win.

"We managed to put together four nice quarters tonight and played well the whole way through. It was nice to see the seniors contribute on their night," coach Lyle Falknor said.

Pat Sennish scored nine points, Andrew Carruthers eight, Kyle Glovinsky three and Jake Williams two as the Panthers grabbed a first-quarter lead and steadily increased the advantage until the last quarter.

Perkins 63, Oak Harbor 37

The Perkins boys basketball team closed out the regular season with an easy 63-37 win over Oak Harbor Saturday afternoon in a Sandusky Bay Conference matchup.

Zak Dees scored 19 for the Pirates (17-3, 11-3) while Brandon Smith added 17 and Michael Ebert scored 10.

For Oak Harbor (3-17, 0-14), Jake Scott scored 18 of the team's 37 points.

Perkins will play at 6:15 p.m. Friday at the Division II Sandusky sectional against the winner of Norwalk (15-5) versus Bellevue (7-13).

Oak Harbor will play Rossford (3-17) at 8 p.m. Tuesday in a sectional semifinal at Swanton.

Port Clinton 57, Clyde 49

At Port Clinton, Kelly Freimark and Josh Graves combined for 30 points in a win over the Fliers in the both teams' season finale.

The Redskins and Fliers battle again Tuesday in sectional play. They tip at 8 p.m. or a half hour after the first game.

Freimark led with 17 points, including three 3-pointers, while Graves added 13.


Willard 55, Bellevue 40

At Willard, the Crimson Flashes started strong in the second half in a win over Bellevue in the season finale.

The Crimson Flashes came out of the lockerroom on an 8-2 run, turning a four-point lead at the half into a 10 point lead, 26-16, and held Bellevue off throughout the rest of the half.

"I am glad that all the seniors played and contributed," Willard coach Dave Hirschy said. "It was nice to see them win in their final home game."

Willard was 17 of 36 from the floor (47.2 percent), converting 17 of 30 from two-point range (56.6 percent).

Both teams are back in action Tuesday in sectional play. Bellevue plays Norwalk (15-5) in the 6:15 p.m. game in the Sandusky sectional, while Willard travels to Mansfield Senior to square off with Mansfield Madison (13-7).


Crestview 60, St. Paul 46

At Olivesburgh, the Flyers were outscored 35-23 in the second half of a 14-point loss to the Cougars.

St. Paul led 15-14 at the end of the first quarter and trailed 25-23 at halftime before Crestview broke it open. Adam Smith led the Flyers (4-16, 4-10) with 14 points while Kurt Walliser added seven and Seth Kramer scored six.

Crestview (15-5, 11-3) got 29 points from Matt Hall.

St. Paul plays Old Fort (6-13) at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Division IV Port Clinton sectional.

W. Reserve 55, Plymouth 36

At Plymouth, the Roughriders behind 13 points from Heath Oates and 10 points from Nolan Todd, defeated Plymouth to finish the regular season with a 17-3 record.

On Tuesday, Western Reserve, which won the Firelands Conference with a 13-1 record this season, will face Lakota (0-18) at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday in the Division III Norwalk sectional.


Ottawa Hills 45, Danbury 27

At Ottawa Hills, the Lakers fell by 18 in the regular season finale while the Green Bears claimed the TAAC title.

Danbury (5-15, 3-9) got eight points from Hunter Stephens and seven from Caleb Helline. The Lakers play St. Mary Central Catholic (6-13) at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Port Clinton.
