Highlights of Edison's and Perkins' wins, and Sandusky's tie in soccer, and Norwalk's sweep in volleyball
Edison 2, Margaretta 1: Edison's Olivia Schmitke scored with two minutes left to give the Chargers (6-4-3) their sixth win this fall. The Polar Bears got on the board first less than three minutes into the game off a direct kick from Brittany Yost. Michelle Johnston had both of Edison's assists.
Perkins 4, Clyde 0: Shannon Matso, Amanda Wolf, Kimee Lipstraw and Sadie Ahlers each scored a goal for the Pirates (4-8), and Rachael Fowler got her second shutout of the fall.
Sandusky 0, Fremont Ross 0: The Blue Streaks tied Fremont Ross for the second time this season to bring their record to 3-7-2 on the season. Jena Meggitt made 10 saves for Sandusky to give the Blue Streaks their third shutout of the fall.
Norwalk 3, Avon 0: State-ranked Norwalk swept the host Eagles in a non-conference match, 25-12, 25-12, 25-23. As a team, Norwalk was 62 of 62 serving, the third consecutive match the team has gone perfect at the service line. Norwalk can clinch at least a share of a 14th Northern Ohio League title as well as for the second straight year Tuesday with a win at Bellevue.
