Norwalk advanced to the next round of the Division II sectional volleyball tournament Tuesday with a 25-10, 25-8, 25-8 win over Oak Harbor at NHS.
The Lady Truckers, 17-6, are scheduled to play Bellevue, a five-game winner in Tuesday’s second match, at 3 p.m. Saturday with a trip to the district tournament on the line.
In the win over Oak Harbor, Sam Obringer had three aces, one block, five digs defensively and went 10-of-10 with seven kills at the net, 8-of-9 serving and 7-of-8 serve receive.
Oakley Shane posted eight aces, one block, two digs, 6-of-7 hitting and three kills in hitting, five passing, 20-of-22 serving and 3-of-3 serve receive. McKenzie Hall added eight aces, 14 assists setting, two digs on defense, 23-of-24 serving and 27-of-28 setting.
Abby Moffit chipped in with three aces, 14 assists, 11-of-11 serving and 23-of-23 setting.
Others who contributed to the win were Becca Roth with five digs and 2-of-2 serving; Lindsey Ziemke two digs, 11-of-12 hitting with five kills, 3-of-4 serving and 3-of-3 serve receive; Mikailey Rogers four digs, 2-of-2 serving and 6-of-6 serve receive; Hannah Friend 2-of-2 serve receive; Lexi Ley one block and 7-of-8 hitting with five kills and Taylor Blakely 2-of-3 and one hit at the net.
“It was a good win for us,’’ Norwalk coach Angie Kalizewski said. “It’s nice to get that first tournament win and nice to get my first tournament win. We did not start strong, but I was happy the way the girls hung in there and we finished well.
“We controlled the ball pretty well for the most part,’’ she added. “We got the chance to run different offenses and I was pleased with the way they looked. Overall, it was a really good night.’’
