For the third time this season, Belleuve's volleyball team outlasted Willard in five games.
Bellevue captured an 18-25, 10-25, 29-27, 25-23, 15-12 win in Tuesday’s Division II sectional tournament match at Norwalk High School.
For the Lady Red (10-13), Katie Stephens had nine digs, 22 kills and went 19-of-19 in serving. Leslie Raifsnider notched an ace, five blocks, 18 digs, 13 kills and 12-of-18 serving. Brooke Taylor registered 19 digs, three kills and 14-of-14 in serving.
And Erika Jordan accounted for 42 assists on 117-of-117 sets and 14-of-14 serving.
“Talk about a team effort,’’ Bellevue coach Karen Irons said. “I thought Taylor played excellent defense. Our kids did not give up.’’
Laura Danhoff posted 16 kills for the Lady Flashes (9-13). Madison Music collected two aces, 48 digs and went 36-of-36 in serve receive. Sammy Guerra, Morgan McCormack and Alyssa Opatken all pitched in with two aces.
Alyssa Holmes contributed an ace, seven kills and 18-of-21 in serve receive, Alysun Daniel 17 kills and Caroline Hamilton nine kills.
“Bellevue was more aggressive the last three games,’’ Willard coach Bridgette Knapp said. “That was the difference. I give credit to our kids. They never gave up.’’
