With wins Tuesday, the Margaretta and Edison volleyball teams are set for the final run to win or share the conference title.
Margaretta (10-1 Sandusky Bay Conference) defeated Port Clinton and Edison (9-2 SBC) dispatched Oak Harbor in three sets apiece.
Edison and Margaretta meet for the second time this season on Thursday in Milan. In their first meeting, the Chargers edged the Polar Bears in five sets.
The Bears and Chargers can still contend with Huron (10-1 SBC), Margaretta's opponent Tuesday. The Tigers have taken the Sandusky outright for 12 straight seasons, dating back to 1999. Margaretta won the title in 1998 and 1997.
On Tuesday, the Polar Bears notched a 25-10, 25-17 and 25-13 SBC victory over Port Clinton in Castalia.
Shannon Coy led the Bears (10-1 SBC) with 16 kills, followed by Katie Nesbitt with 12. Chey Morris tallied five kills on an 11-for-11 hitting day.
Whitney Strause and Katie Nesbitt paced the Margaretta offense with 14 assists each. Coy had 12 digs on defense, which Jessica Napka and Nesbitt added seven apiece.
The Chargers won their first set big, 25-3, and finished the match with wins of 25-12 and 25-13.
Abbey Cox hit .625 (10 kills on 16-of-16 hitting) with five blocks and 18 points. Elise Gastier was 68-for-68 setting with 28 assists.
Carmen Tinnel was 11-for-13 hitting with seven kills and four blocks. Susan Knight added seven and Zoe Gastier five kills to the Edison offense. Lauren Teed had 15 digs for the Chargers' back row defense, Chelsea Frankboner recorded 6 blocks at the net.
