St. Mary CC tennis sweeps Edison

St. Mary Central Catholic tennis continued it's undefeated streak to start the season with a 5-0 victory Thursday over Edison in Milan.

With the sweep, the Panthers improve to 8-0, 4-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference.

St. Mary's Andrew Linden defeated Cory Diroll in straight sets in first singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Evan Slattery and Connor Stark defeated John Nickoloff (6-0, 6-1) and Chris Westfall (6-2, 6-0) in second and third singles, respectively.

SMCC's Collin Ebert and Alex Opfer took home first doubles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jeremy Moss and Connor Russell, while Jared Ebert and Tanner Roth defeated Adam Osterling and David Bender, 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-3.

Oak Harbor 3, Clyde 2

At Clyde, the Rockets edged the Fliers with a singles sweep on Thursday night.

Greg LaFountain defeated Isaac Prunty in first singles, 6-0, 6-1. Eli Boldt took down Andrew Collins in second singles after losing the first set, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Nik Shay won third singles for the Rockets (5-4, 3-1 SBC) against Brandon Carte, 6-2, 6-2.

Clyde's Blaine McFarland and Itts Rodrungruang won the first-doubles match against Brock Goetz and Matt Hamilton, 6-1, 6-0, while the Derek Yeager and David Roach won second doubles for the Fliers (4-5, 1-3 SBC) with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jeremiah Helle and Kurt Tallman.

Port Clinton 4, Perkins 1

At Port Clinton, the Redskins won second and third singles and both doubles matches for a 4-1 victory over the Pirates.

Mark Filmore and Zach Auxter took care of their home court in three sets each against Zach Grealy (6-3, 4-6, 7-5) and Josh Rohrbacher (6-4, 1-6, 6-3), respectively.

Jonny Newton and Jeff Griffin won first doubles for P.C. with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 decision against Shannon Murphy and Cody Dominick, while Adam Sebastano and Nils Bachn defeated Anthony Pepitone and Max Funk in second doubles, 6-1, 6-3.

Perkins (4-4, 3-2 SBC) freshman Manickam Manickam won first singles against Chalin Cahlik, 6-1, 6-4.

Huron 3, Fremont Ross 2

At Huron, the Tigers edged the Little Giants behind wins from their third singles and both doubles teams Thursday.

The Tigers' Matthew Wray and John Dusza defeated Michael Pickerel and David Gipe in first doubles, 6-4, 6-2. Dom Vacca and Nyle Olds took down Tim Cheek and Josh Woughter in second doubles, 6-2, 6-2.

In third singles for Huron (3-4, 0-4 SBC), Dylan Recard defeated Curtis Hinsch, 7-5, 6-2.

Fremont's Malcolm Leake defeated Rory Kaip in first singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Erik Paulson beat Austin Thorn, 6-1, 6-4.

Norwalk 5, U. Sandusky 0

At Upper Sandusky, the Truckers did not lose a set in a sweep of Northern Ohio League opponent Upper Sandusky in their final conference match against the Rams.

Trevor Bowers, Harry Love and Sid Beier swept the singles matches for Norwalk (8-1, 4-0 NOL). Kyle Scheid and Kevin Bickerstaff won first doubles for the Truckers, while Adam Zorn and Karson Schaechterle won second doubles.
