Port Clinton sweeps Huron to finish season unbeaten

Port Clinton closed out the regular season with a 5-0 sweep against Huron Monday.

Three-time state qualifiers Chelsea Beck and Aubrey Gillman both won their singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores for the Redskins (18-0, 12-0 Sandusky Bay Conference).

Beck and Gillman are the top doubles seed in the Division II sectional tournament, which is Thursday and Saturday at Port Clinton.

Rachael Szabo was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles for Port Clinton.

SBC doubles champions Samantha Griffin and Haley DeLeon -- who are the second seed at the sectional tournament -- were 6-1, 6-1 winners at No. 1 doubles.

Lexi Fodor and Tiffany Colston added a 7-5, 6-2 decision at No. 2 doubles.

The Port Clinton JV team completed an unbeaten year with a 5-1 victory.

Clyde 5, Edison 0

At Milan, the Clyde Fliers defeated Edison 5-0 in SBC play Monday to improve to 14-4 overall and 10-2 in the SBC.

The Fliers, who won all but one set in the five matches played, saw Sarah Potts defeat Sammie Jamison at No. 1 singles 6-1, 1-6, 6-1. Caitlin Nearhood beat Mallory Kiley 6-0, 6-2 and Hanna Manty beat Amy Slamons 6-0, 6-0 at third-singles.

Mariah Bloom and Shelbe Gibson won their match at No. 1 doubles 6-3, 6-4 and Amanda Cahill and Spencer Robles won their No. 2 doubles match 6-1, 6-1.

Edison is 1-16 overall and 0-12 in the SBC.

At Norwalk, the Truckers got four wins in straight sets against the Lady Red in the Northern Ohio League contest.

Olivia Kasten, Jacqueline Hipp and Jaclynn McClune won their singles matches for Norwalk, and Allison Loden and Caliegh Ott were three-set winners. Aubrey Cook and Hali Sindlinger won at No. 2 doubles.

Bellevue is 9-7 overall and 6-7 in the NOL.
