After watching their lead vanish in the fourth inning, the Lady Flyers responded for their biggest win of the season, rallying to beat St. Mary CC 7-4 Monday in a Division IV sectional tournament game at Norwalk High School.
St. Paul scored three runs in the fifth inning to retake the lead and added an insurance run in the seventh.
Elise Nickoli pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief and struck out three batters for the Lady Flyers in their third win of the season.
Colleen Corrigan, Mikayla Coe, Sarah Rhoad and Kelsey Barna all had two hits for St. Paul.
Roe and Katie Roth each belted a double.
“This was truly a team win,’’ St. Paul coach Dan Conney said. “These girls played hard for seven innings without a breakdown and really put it all together.
“Elise Nickoli pitched like a season vet,’’ the coach added. “St. Mary’s adjusts well to pitching as the game goes on and Elise gave them a little something different to look at.”
St. Paul plays South Central (6-9) at 5 p.m today at Norwalk.
