The Norwalk softball team was shut out for five innings.
Then the sixth arrived and the Lady Truckers scored four times.
Norwalk held Upper Sandusky scoreless in the top of the seventh for a 4-3 win Monday in Northern Ohio League softball action at NHS.
Trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the sixth, Amanda Kerby gained a hit for the Lady Truckers.
Beccah Roth smacked a double to the fence and Kailee Flowers walked to load the bases.
Elise Meyers reached first base to score pinch-runner Teal Grodi. Taylor Braden’s fielder’s choice plated Roth. Kelly Trautman stepped up and had a hit to score Flowers with the tying run.
With the bases loaded again, Alaina Berry’s fielder’s choice scored Meyers with the fourth run.
Berry, Amy Beier and Kerby each posted two hits for Norwalk.
Beth Campbell snared the pitching win in relief.
She went 3 1/3 innings and allowed a hit and two walks with two strikeouts.
Kayla Pelham worked the first 3 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
“Alaina Berry had a big night for us,’’ Norwalk coach Frank Maire said. “She hit the ball well and did an excellent job behind the plate at catcher.
“And Beth shut down Upper,’’ the coach added. “She came up big for us. Our kids fought. (Upper’s) Logan Meddings did a nice job. It was really good to get back in the win column.’’
Norwalk, 8-10 overall, 3-5 in the league, is scheduled to host Bellevue today.
