St. Mary Central Catholic (3-1) scored its first Sandusky Bay Conference victory since 2008 with a 13-12 win over Perkins at Strobel Field. The Panthers held the 13-12 lead at the break and made it stand against Perkins, which has started the season 0-4 for the second consecutive season.
Norwalk (No. 3 in Division II) took down Edison (No. 9 in Division III) in three sets, 25-10, 28-26, 25-12. Kelli Weininger led Norwalk with 12 kills.
Monroeville took its first loss of the season in the Buckeye Central tournament to the hosts. The Eagles fell in two sets to the Bucks, 25-20, 26-24 in the semifinals. In the finals, Buckeye Central pasted Margaretta 25-12, 25-8.
Marion Local won the battle of the volleyball perennial powers against Huron in Maria Stein, 25-18, 25-20, 25-21. Kat Ferrell was 27 of 30 hitting for 15 kills to lead the Tigers.
Norwalk's Olivia Kasten won the No. 1 singles bracket in Saturday's Northern Ohio League tournament in Norwalk to earn a spot on the first team All-NOL. She cut down Shelby's Nikki Harmon in the final, 6-0, 6-1.
The Norwalk boys scored a 4-1 victory over Clear Fork at home to remain unbeaten at 6-0-2. Jimmy Wohlers scored a hat trick for the Truckers in the win.
The St. Mary Central Catholic boys and girls harriers finished second in their respective races at the Lakota Invitational at Eells Park in Bettsville. The usual suspects -- Trevor Durnwald (16:52) and Lindsay Kaatz (19:42) -- led the teams. Bellevue's boys and girls also finished in the top five of their respective events.
