50 years ago, 1964: Mrs. Regine Breuil, a 32-year-old mother of four, jumped 186 feet from the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, picked herself up, took a few steps and collapsed. She died in an ambulance.
25 years ago, 1989: An estimated 10,300 Ohio Bell employees belonging to the Communications Workers of America union walked off their jobs, minutes after rejecting the company's latest offer. The Ohio union members joined over 51,000 employees of five Midwest Ameritech telephone companies as "Baby Bell" strikes spread across the nation.
10 years ago, 2004: A pizza delivery man refused to stop for police officers, instead attempting to complete his delivery, Perkins police said. Police tried to pull over the car when the driver started drifting into the right lane, but he waved out the window for the office to drive past. When he finally stopped he said he thought he could deliver the pizzas while the police were writing out the ticket.
