50 years ago, 1964: Red China climaxed a weekend of massive hate-America demonstrations by proclaiming its right to aid Communist North Viet Nam in any conflict with the United States, it was reported.
25 years ago, 1989: The 19889 Erie County Fair Queen, Rebecca Ziss, 17, earned double honors at the fair. The Perkins High School senior was also named Miss Congeniality.
10 years ago, 2004: Eartha Kitt, the original Catwoman on the "Batman" television show, suffered minor injuries when the vehicle she was driving collided with another car and flipped over. Kitt, 77, was treated at a Connecticut hospital and released.
