25 years ago, 1989: Army Gen. Colin L. Powell became the first black selected for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as the youngest nominee for the highest military post in the nation.
10 years ago, 2004: Dr. James E. Printy was probably one of the most well-known faces in the area. He was so well-known that, in fact, that for more than 10,000 people born here, he was probably the first face they ever saw. Printy, 80, died after a long illness. He began practicing in 1952.
