Ohio woman charged after officer pricked by needle

Associated Press • Jul 28, 2014 at 11:40 AM

The Montgomery County prosecutor’s office said Friday that Ashley Lynn Warner, 25, of West Milton, faces one count of felonious assault on an officer, and one count each for possession of heroin, cocaine and drug abuse instruments.

Vandalia police detectives were patrolling for illegal drug activity June 20 when they approached a vehicle in which Warner was a passenger.

Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said the officer was pricked by the needle during a pat-down, despite asking Warner repeatedly if she had any weapons or needles on her.

The officer was taken to an emergency room for treatment out of concern for contracting hepatitis C.
