50 years ago, 1964: The second manhunt in as many days was organized when a second man escaped from the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors prison camp. Both men were aided in their escape by unsuspecting motorists who gave the men transportation out of the city.
25 years ago, 1989: More than 55 residents packed the Perkins Township Trustee meeting opposing the animal shelter proposed for the corner of Columbus and Michigan avenues. Trustees agreed that the shelter was not in the best interests of Perkins Township.
10 years ago, 2004: Lance Armstrong capped his most dominant Tour deFrance with a crushing win in the final time trial, all but guaranteeing him a place in history as the first six-time winner of the 101-year-old race.
