Police arrested two Sandusky men for domestic violence in separate incidents Saturday after they allegedly injured women.

A 36-year-old Sandusky man was arrested at about 3:40 a.m. after he allegedly knocked a woman to the floor, making her unconscious.

Police arrested Ryan J. Cole, 36, 700 block of Decatur, on a charge of domestic violence.

He is accused of hitting Amy L. Cheatham, 36, 2200 block of West Monroe, with a bag of laundry.

Police arriving at a home on the 2200 block of West Monroe found Cheatham getting up from the floor and found Cole and a witness on the scene.

Cheatham told police that during an argument, Cole a laundry bag at her intentionally, hitting her in the face and knocking her down. She said she was knocked unconscious when her head hit the floor. Police said they saw blood on her mouth and a possible bump on her head.

Cole said he did not intentionally hit Cheatham but may have hit her accidentally. A witness told police Cole may have hit Cheatham with the bag but did not know if it was intentional.

In another incident, police were called to a home on the 200 block of Townsend Street at 3:19 p.m. Saturday on a report of a woman possibly being hit with a shovel.

Police arrested Joseph McFarland, 45, 200 block of Townsend, on a charge of domestic violence.

Police said Danette Kearsley, 37, same address, was sobbing and holding her right arm when they arrived. She told police that during an argument, McFarland shoved her, she slapped him, and he then pushed her over the couch and struck her.

McFarland told police that he threw a shovel and a chair. He told police he "did not remember" if he hit Kearsley with the shovel. Police found a shovel by the front door.

Kearsley was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police said they are also investigating a third case in which a Sandusky woman, age 28, reported an assault. The initial offense report did not list an arrest.
