A Sandusky man was arrested for possessing cocaine while attempting to set off fireworks, a Sandusky police report said.

Dominic Yado, whose age was unavailable, of the 400 block Meigs St., was charged with disorderly conduct, depositing litter on public property, possession of marijuana, discharging fireworks and possession of cocaine early Friday. Police responded to a call that someone was setting off fireworks around 2 a.m. Friday.

They heard loud noises and saw bright lights coming from the area of the 1300 block of Buchanan St. Police found Yado, who was in the process of setting off another fuse, the report said. An officer told him not to.

“I don’t give a (expletive) who you are, I’m lighting this fuse,” Yado said, according to the report. But he never did, because the officer grabbed his arm and pushed him away, the report said. When the officer asked Yado for his ID, a bag of suspected marijuana and a bag of suspected cocaine fell out of his pocket, the report said. He was taken to the Erie County jail.

Police said a large amount of debris was littered in the area from the fireworks.
