Julie Acheson, 23, of the 100 block of Adams St., was arrested June 24 on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence, child endangering, failure to control and leaving the scene of an accident.

A caller told deputies she had tried to grab Acheson’s keys, but Acheson managed to drive away before she could, according to an Erie County deputy’s report. Acheson was found at her home around midnight.

She admitted drinking a six-pack of Twisted Tea and striking a green truck at U.S. 6 and Ohio 269, but said her children were with her father at the time. Acheson’s father, however, told a Castalia police officer Acheson had just dropped her children, ages 3 and 9, off at his house, the report said.

Acheson then admitted she had both kids in the vehicle at the time of the crash. She was arrested and taken to the Erie County jail.
