Woman held by police jumps to her death

A police spokesman said two plainclothes officers were running warrant checks on four women and two men in a room at a Red Roof Inn in north Columbus on Tuesday night when Tiffany Vanover “suddenly went toward the window” She died later at a hospital.

Sgt. Rich Weiner said the operation was routine until Vanover “got scared” and jumped.

   The Columbus Dispatch reported the agency’s critical incident response team, which typically responds to officer-involved shootings, is investigating because the woman’s death occurred while she was in custody.
