Walleye hatch hits 1.26 million

50 years ago, 1964: There were 12,670,000 walleye fry hatched at the Division of Wildlife Put-in-Bay hatchery and stocked in Lake Erie in the spring of 1964. The fry were distributed in natural spawning areas around the lake.
25 years ago, 1989: J.H. Routh Packing Co., Sandusky, was awarded the Red, White and Blue Award by the American Legion, an award given to a person or organization that consistently displayed patriotism by maintaining a flag in good shape.
10 years ago, 2004: Forty percent of public schoolchildren in Arkansas were overweight, and nearly one in four was obese, a sign that obesity among children nationwide was probably far worse than health officials had thought.
