Authorities on Wednesday identified a found body as that of Bryan Huff, 32, one of two boaters missing since an incident on Lake Erie last month.
A Carroll Township family found Huff’s body washed ashore near Green Cove at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Levorchick said. The body was sent to the Lucas County coroner’s office, which positively identified the body Wednesday.
Huff, of Rossford, and three others were in a boat that crashed or capsized after they left for a fishing expedition April 16. They were reported missing at about 2:30 a.m. April 17, and the boat was found shortly thereafter. That same day, search crews found the bodies of two of the boaters — Amy Santus, 33, of Perrysburg, and Paige Widmer, 16, of South Carolina — floating miles offshore.
Huff and the fourth boater — Andrew Rose, 33 — had been missing ever since.
With Huff’s body washing ashore, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday sent a boat out to patrol the shoreline, in the event Rose’s body might surface. As of Wednesday evening, Rose remained missing, Levorchick said.
Santus and Widmer both drowned, according to autopsy reports.
