Car strikes patrol cruiser on Butler Road

A Wakeman driver allegedly struck a State Highway Patrol trooper’s vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Clarksfield Township, troopers said.

Steven Lasky, 46, was driving his Chevy Malibu east on Zenobia Road when he allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign, troopers said.

Meanwhile, Trooper Steven Bacsi, 40, of Norwalk, was driving his Patrol-issued Dodge Charger north on Butler Road when Lasky entered the intersection. The cruiser struck Lasky’s vehicle on the right side, with both cars coming to a rest off the northeast corner of the roads, troopers said.

Both men were wearing their seat belts, but they each sustained minor injuries. Lasky and Bacsi refused medical treatment. Troopers are still investigating the crash, but there is no indication drug or alcohol use was involved.

Bacsi was not responding to any calls at the time of the crash and was operating at normal speeds, troopers said. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
