50 years ago, 1964: The multi-million dollar World's Fair opened with its international glitter undimmed by threats of rain and racial protests. The turnstiles, 95 of them at eight gateways, began spinning at 8:45 a.m., two hours before the official opening.
25 years ago, 1989: King Hussein of Jordan conferred with President Bush and told reporters he believed the time was ripe for a peace breakthrough in the Middle East.
10 years ago, 2004: Three locals were among the 53 that applied for Sandusky's city manager position. Assistant City Manager Mike Will, Erie County Director of Human Resources James Sennish, and former Sandusky Commission and ex officio Mayor Richard Jeffrey submitted their applications.
